If you are getting angry
about the topic of antipersonal mines,
please, support us!

Why do we need yet another association in the fight against the menace of landmines? Get more information about our objectives here or on our homepage. You will find it here: www.Wissen-gegen-Minen.de.

On the following pages you can see, which technological methods for the detection of land mines are already existing today, which are useful and which are still under developement. About 20 methods are principally considered useful for landmine detection. Every method is introduced by an article of the report ”Alternatives for Landmine detection technologies” by RAND Science and Technology Policy Institute published in 2003.

We, Science against Mines e.V., make it our objective to describe these methods, giving a varying degree of scientific detail. This way we would like to give laypersons a general idea about the funtioning of the different methods of landmine detection. At the same time, we would like to enable engineers and scientists as well as all those interested in the matter to inform themselves, in the hope that they will join our competence network and provide their knowledge to this data base.

Another objective of Science against Mines is the creation of a competence network which would include scientists, deminers and producers of detectors. The common aim is to develop better systems for mine detection, meeting different environmental requirements.

Do you know of a project or knowledge pool, that you like to present and share? Then join us!

Your knowledge increases the critical mass of knowledge and
helps support the global effect of new landmine detection technologies.

We, the operators of this website, created the following rules of conduct for the use of this knowledge:

  1. All data are freely available and can be quoted when properly credited. There is no explicit copyright protection.
  2. All data serve to stimulate scientific and practical discussions to develop more efficient methods for mine detection.
  3. Only registered users are allowed to put new information on the website. All others are allowed to join the discussions.
  4. For quality assurance the webpages are regularly controlled by a council of scientists and editors, and problematical texts are discussed. Spam texts and data not belonging to the topic will be deleted from the webpage.
