Communication Platform

The competence network is a platform for communication for the exchange of experiences between scientists, deminers and producers of detection.

A main problem when introducing new methods for land mine detection is the break of communication between the involved groups: Deminers often do not understand the scientists´ explanation reports, those often have a very broad idea of what happens on the minefield, and the detector manufacturer are subdued to financial necessities without having potentials for long running analysis.

A competence network as a platform for communication is on the one hand a forum/ bulletin board for international scientific exchange and establishes/offers relevant people on site know-how knowledge access.

The headstone for developing a competence network was set with the foundation of Science against Mines e.V., a non-profit non-governmental organization. This organization will be enlarged through steady dilation of of contacts and the comprehension of interested scientists, deminers and detector manufacturers. More information you will find on our organization homepage or on the members site

Network Structure

Scientists with different professional specializations may be arranged in groups by themselves. If users of different groups have questions to each other, you just need to forward the question to the questioned group.

Groups/ Categories:

  1. Public Relations and Media / Legal Concerns
  2. Funding, Donations and Sponsors
  3. Landmine Detection Technologies
  4. Simulation tool
  5. Special Projects
  6. Scientific Competence Network consisting of groups, classified in (a) topics/ fields of work and (b) professions/ technical groups

Scientific Competence Network: Topics/ fields of work

  • Mines
  • Mine environment: direct environment/ direct influences, indirect environment/ indirect influences on mine detection
  • Mine policy: Media / Human Rights / Legal Concerns

Scientific Competence Network: Professions/ technical groups
