Second Roundtable meeting, ITC, Phom Penh
In January, the ITC held a roundtable meeting on landmine detection technology education. Participants agreed to meet regularly to discuss the current state of affairs and the progress in the development of and the education about new Landmine detection technologies. In order to address these issues, it is necessary that we understand the problems the deminers are confronted with in their work.
As a further step in this direction, we would like to invite you to attend the second round table meeting
on 8 May 2008 at 9 am at the ITC in Phnom Penh
We want to learn about the problems of the deminers in the field and discuss them so that we can identify ways to solve these problems.
Your participation in the meeting is very much welcome. Experts in the field of demining will report about their activities and share their experiences with landmines, landmine detection and demining activities. They will speak in particular about the problems deminers are facing when doing their work in the mine field.
We are very much looking forward to receiving your positive response at your earliest convenience. Please send it to us (WgM.eV@gmx.net) and to Seila NUON, who is the point of contact at the ITC.
It is important that we keep the momentum. Based on the outcome of the upcoming meeting on problems in the mine field, we are therefore planning to organize, in autum, the third roundtable discussion. That meeting will focus on new technologies for landmine detection.
We are aware that this can only be a starting point. However, we believe this to be a good opportunity to address the burning questions of landmine detection.
